Crank No Start
Had a problem inside the steering column where it wouldnt shift out of park. Fixed that and that part works fine. Now I have a problem with starting. Using the key it will crank until the battery dies but will not start. However, if I place the key in the run position, and then go under the hood and jump the solenoid, it will start immediately. So I checked the pin outs of the ignition switch on the top of the steering column. When the key is in the run position, all the wires have power. So If I jump the solenoid under the hood, it starts right up. If I move the ignition switch from Run to Start position, the wires that had power at Run do not have power when at Start position. I tried two different new ignition switches with no difference.
Any idea what I should check next?
Thanks for any help
2-The start bypass circuit (the I terminal of the fender mounted starter relay)
I would see what the key on voltage of the ignition coil is, then compare that to cranking voltage
Should be 9 volts running and 12 volts starting
