Usually you heat the decal thoroughly with moderate steady heat and carefully start peeling back a corner of the decal. Once you get the corner started peeling, keep heating and the decal should peel off easily. Do not use high heat because you can damage the truck paint. If you remove the decal when new, usually you cannot tell a decal was there. Some decal adhesives require more adhesive removal after the decal comes off, but I dont think that's the case with the truck side 4x4 decals.
I have read of some people positioning the decal facing directly at strong sunshine and the sun heats the decal enough for removal.
Today the truck ... my new to me one ( dark grey metallic) was in the driveway and I leaned on it and it was HOT! I began to wonder how hot! Curiosity got the better of me and I picked at the corner of one and low and be hold, it came off easily. No residue, just clean paint. I did the other one and it too came off in one piece. I did put ceramic sealer where the decal was after whipping it down with alcohol. I like the cleaner look.

It is great when once in a while a project goes very easily like that !
