Check codes and fluid. I wonder if you have a shift kit in her. Otherwise probably got some sticky solinods in it. That's what I'd think but probably should trust the former engineer lol. But check basics before going deep.

With the odometer/speedometer blank and not indicating speed, you will most likely get a code for missing or erratic VSS signal. That will trigger the hard/late shifts. There may be more codes, but at this point fix the obvious first.
My first step would be checking Fuse 8 and Fuse 18. They supply power to the PSOM.

Building a good foundation is always a good idea. Check for codes and the fluid, but the problem is right in front of you. Get the speedo working. Grab the wiring diagram and your DVOM. Check the signals at the speed sensor and the signal coming out of the PSOM.
