Looks like the Ex will be working a bit harder, we have put a deposit down on a new camper. My wife agrees, I can do engine, transmission and paint and still will be 1/2 the cost of a new truck. Paint work will be done on Friday.

I can’t remember exactly. The FICM was supposed to be an early version along with an atlas 40 tune from PHP. ECU and TCM were tuned by Blessed.

I bought a brand new $69k Expy last year for the wife. Spent more than I wanted, but it's what momma wanted. the comparable Tahoe was almost $90k. We absolutely love it. Ford has really killed it with design and performance of these new rigs. But...it has highlighted several issues that make it unlikely that I'll ever buy new in the near future (10 years?). Price. and on every start-up it has 5 different alarms/dings/bells telling me things are disabled. Yep, I know. I turned them off on purpose. Everytime a kid moves their butt, a seat alarm goes off that persists until the associated door opens/shuts. Turn on CC, and the car dings for 3 seconds to tell you that the fancy blue-cruise isn't enabled. etc.

oh yeah, and you have to subscribe for the installed features on the car to work. That really chapped my behind to learn when the 1yr promo ended. Don't get me started on Auto Stop/Start

basically, I'm getting old and tired of my vehicle deciding everything for me. it's not a pleasant experience and annoying as hell

vs. the 21yr old Excursion that has all the same features, none of the nannies. And gets damn near exact same MPG (2005 vs 2024 model) with more hauling capacity.

this is actually why I bought my current X. I paid $13k for her. It'll hurt if an accident occurs and they total it out. But won't break the bank.

Have you priced a late-model Superduty recently? People are paying $30K or more for trucks with 200k miles and 10yrs old. Insurance won't pay out that much when they total it. And that kind of $$$ can be ruinous if you're stuck floating a dead vehicle loan while trying to purchase something else to replace it.

@Tylus EXACTLY!!! Having driven and ridden in newer trucks/cars, yeah, all the doohickys, thingamajigs and ding-dongs are way too much, sure, some are nice, but my '00 Ex and my '02 F350 do everything I axe of them just fine thank you!

I have a 2007 Pontiac Vibe, we turned off the Auto Door lock, it does not yell at us.

I have a 2002 7.3 Excursion, the Door alarm light stays on, can't find out why,
no audible alerts ever, except for one, which I like.

Headlights ON, Key OFF, it squeals real loud.

My sister has a 2010 Ford Raptor, with all the fancy stuff.
we love the review Camera that works when you Reverse.

the rest of the fancy stuff? we disabled all of it.

I bought mine because at the time we had (3) small children (8, 5, 2) plus the grandparents and all the luggage and fishing tackle for a week at the beach and I was damn tired of needing a u-haul to get our junk there. We all rode inside and nothing was on a rooftop carrier or the hitch hauler getting rain and slop on it. Hell the cherry on top, the full size spare tire is inside nad easy to get to if needed. If is my knuckle dragging school bus that I own my side of the road with. I have been to some cabins in the Gatlinburg on some kind of steep drives, as well as the gulf of AMERICA and at 247k miles I am not willingly giving it up. Insurance gave me **** back in 2017 when some idiot side swiped the Left rear and messed up the qtr panel. It took the shop a lot of talking to get them to wait and locate a panel. Mine is an '04 w/ 5.4 RWD and I get 12-14 mpg w/ 4.10 rear. It makes me HAPPY!

It was called their "Hybrid" FICM tune that they no longer offer. It's a combination of an early flash they tweaked and it doesn't have inductive heating. That's why they no longer offer it. They don't want customers calling saying that they installed their FICM tune and now have a hard time with cold starts or after installing their FICM tune, they're having injector issues because they were being covered up by the inductive heating.
