I just bought a 2003 Centennial F250 6.0 4 Door 4x4 6' bed stock, clean and low miles $130K. I bought as a Beach Buggy and to pull my boat. I still love my Ex but I could not resist this dealio. I would like to keep both, not sure if I will.
Last diesel I had was a 7.3 in a 97 OBS pickup.
I'll be pursuing the 6.0 forums to see how to take care of this.
Because it is hard to find a replacement to even do half of what the excursion does for me!
It is a DD for me, but that is under a 4 min drive in the am to work, home for lunch, back to work for the pm, then home. The odd errands.
It comes to shine come the fall when I get out for my yearly hunting trips. Not to mention the summers out fishing! The stuff I haul inside and on the roof basket just can't be beat!, Setting up camp is simple, and I sleep inside the cab with plenty of room, and don't feel vulnerable in a tent. Simple adds like door screens keep air flow decent, in the warmer weather.
I have been neglecting the X for a bit, and I know it, but it keeps giving without asking. I did the dvd dual din and full speaker upgrade years ago, with the spare time woofer. Last couple of years the amp quit on me and the deck has been giving me problems. No biggy, just no music and enjoying nature. Couple weeks ago I finally decided to get that taken care of and replaced the amp with a kenwood marine one. I think the original got moisture in it. Located in the rear under the rear A/C next to the jack. Well it has been too long, but really enjoying the sound theater that the X has when the stereo works properly.
Off road duty has been mostly taken over by the sxs, but still haul out there.
I know the driver side rocker panels are toast, and I keep thinking I need to take care of that, but I procrastinate.
Why do I still have my '01 PSD after owning it 23 years? Because it just completed its 51st tow of my 7k trailer (5k 4runner rock crawler on a flatbed) between the Front Range of the Rockies and Moab.
That's 102 crossings through the tunnels and Vail pass on I70, juat for starters. What else is going to do that, while keeping us and our stuff, including full size mountain bikes, safe and dry inside?
It was a part time job keeping the 6.0 running, the Excursion is cool and all, but its not cool enough to justify living with a 6.0 IMHO. The Cummins solved ALL the 6.0 problems.
...
I would not touch a 6.0 with a 10 ft broom.
too many problems with them
my son has a 2004 Dodge 5.9
and I have a '98 5.9 dually, just had the rear hitch fixed, after we overloaded it last year, it folded down at 45 degrees... whoever originally installed it, didn't know metal work.
both are automatics.
3" angle by 3/8" thick now.
Solid as a rock with the new heavy vertical support beams.
