Looking to buy 5 heavy-duty trucks for long haul — need advice
Hey everyone,
I’m currently planning to expand my business and looking to purchase 5 trucks (2+ ton / heavy-duty) mainly for long-haul transportation.
Right now, I’m considering Freightliner Cascadia, but I’m still open to suggestions. I’d really appreciate some real-world feedback from those of you running fleets or driving long distances regularly.
My main concerns are:
Reliability (less downtime is critical)
Fuel efficiency (long-haul costs matter a lot)
Driver comfort (since these will be on the road most of the time)
Maintenance & parts availability
From what I’ve seen so far, models like Freightliner Cascadia, Volvo VNL, Kenworth T680, and Peterbilt 579 seem to be popular for long-haul fleets . But I’d rather hear from people actually running them day to day.
So I’d like to ask:
If you were buying 5 trucks for long-haul today, what would you choose?
Any brands/models you would avoid?
How important is dealer/service network in your experience?
This is a pretty big investment for me, so I want to make the right call the first time.
