Good to be back, MC: knew I could count on you guys to put me straight.
One thing with my equaliser...when fully set up and connected, it's not anywhere near vertical like yours. One of the cables comes out from the mounting plate quite a bit more than the other, meaning that the equaliser is angled almost 45 degrees off the vertical to take up the slack. Would that make a difference? It was the same when I had the old cables connected. I figured the cable had stretched somehow, and it was the main reason why I replaced the pair of them; but as I have the same issue with the new ones, I guess it's not that. Should I weld a spacer of some kind on the equaliser so as to make it sit more vertical?
I'd say the shoe's are not set/adjusted in the correct position. I'm thinking you need to take the drums off and see why that one parking brake cable is not even with the other one.
IMO, they should be equal.
Cables will stretch over time. The longer cable from the passenger side can be a little shorter as it will stretch more over time. The stretch is rated in inches per foot. 45 degrees is a lot though and as max said check your install. Longer cables will stretch more than shorter ones. If it works ok then good. The equalizer bar is there for that reason.
The cables are new, just like everything else. I just don't get it, fellas. I'll have to look into it further, but not now: I've got firewood to get in for the winter. I'll try Kultulz's adjustment procedure in between loads, and then if it doesn't work...yeah, take the drums off again.
Now you're probably going to say that this is off topic for the forum, but I ask you...what's a truck without a chainsaw?
Thing is, I've got this old Stihl 084AV chainsaw and the ignition module is stuffed. The parts manual has an exploded diagram with an ignition module (Stihl part number: 1124 400 1308) that is slightly different to mine. The manual's module appears to have three mounting holes for screws, whereas mine has only two, plus the top of the bakerlite housing where the third hole is located is a little different also.
The Stihl dealer here can get one, but doesn't know if it will fit. He also says the timing might be different and that it might kick back, and that I might have to get different timing keys and a different flywheel???
So would you know if it would go alright, or else if there is an exact aftermarket copy of the one I have, and also what the Stihl part number of my module actually is?
Just thought I'd throw this out there...
