TLDR: Does your fuel pump run 20 seconds EVERY TIME? Or does it build up to a pressure and then stop sooner?
2001 F250 7.3 diesel, 210000 miles. As of Monday, after replacing the starter, it has begun to refuse to start. Mostly. Cranks and cranks, but won't catch.
When I replaced the starter I didn't properly disconnect the batteries, causing some momentary sparks. I then properly disconnected them and finished the job. So I may have mucked something up.
SOMETIMES it will start, see video attached. When it starts, it runs fine. No miss, idles, pulls like it should. Turn it off, it starts right up again.
Fuses all ok, no codes, dash lights work as normal. New fuel filter. RPM dial jumps while cranking, so CPS is ok.
I live in the desert and the two times I've gotten it to start, it seems to start when it gets hot enough. Maybe the glow plugs aren't working? Maybe the fuel bowl heater?
I noticed that the fuel pump runs when you turn it on for the full 20 seconds every time. I don't recall that being the case before, but I dunno.
I'm grasping at straws here.

20 seconds at key on. Runs continuously while signal is detected from the CMP sensor. Times out after 20 seconds if CMP signal is lost, but shuts off immediately if the key is turned off.
