Hey fellas, it’s been a while hope all is well. So Friday afternoon on my way home, my 2006 psd started shuttering and stalled out, like it wasn’t getting fuel, I picked up some motorcraft filters yesterday and just put them in. I just made it about a mile from my house and it did the same thing. Just for grins I had my Forscan plugged in while I was driving so I have the drive cycle saved, but I didn’t really see anything that stood out, any ideas?

it looks like my fuel gauge has decided to not work properly, I looked in the upper filter bowl and it was empty, had my kid bring me a couple cans of fuel and it seems fine. I’m guessing the sending unit might be messed up
So basically the tank was empty but the gauge was saying just over 1/4 tank and the readout said 50 miles to empty. I’m not sure if there is a way to fix it, but I guess not running less than a half tank is the remedy for now.
Your problem might be the broken foot on the pickup. There's still a 1/4 tank left it just doesn't reach down into the fuel anymore. Whatever is it, the tank has to get opened up, unless you want to cut a hole for a sump system. Pics of this problem in this post link:

I got a Fleece to put in my truck, but there are full replacements of the standard style also available. I chose to replace the whole thing, my logic is the first one made it twenty years, the replacement probably will too and I don't want to open up the tank again if I can avoid it.
