I’m in the process of cleaning the inside of this fuel tank and I and wondering if someone can tell me what that glob of black rubber is down at the bottom of the fuel pickup tube. I need to know if it has a purpose of if I should fish it out.
That is likely what's left of your in-tank fuel line filter....
Remove the whole sending unit and replace the sock/filter....$7 bucks from LMC and you can get a new one.
