As far a a vacuum line connecting to a valve, inline between the water pump and heater core, it doesnt show anything. I can look at mine but I dont think it will help. However, I do remember somewhat, that there was some little round thing inline in my heater hose. If thats what you mean, I will see if there is a line attached to it and where it goes. I am running the 5.0L EFI. Not too diff from the 5.8
AQUARIES1 .... how are you managing with fixing the problem? if you cant figure it out, you could always take that valve out... and either put in a straight piece of pipe or a manual valve. just a thought.
The way I thnk it is - the valve is in flow position with no vacuum, so it's like having no water valve now. So the hot water is always running through the heater core. The cooling air does not run through the heater core however the cooling air does run in the plenum past the heater core and thus picks up some heat, when the core is hot, which is 100% of the time if the subject valve doesn't work. The valve is supposed to stop the hot water flow on A/C mode. Here in Miami I need all the cooling I can get as well as occasional heat.
AHH YES i forgot you were in miami, so ur issue is cooling, not heat like us up northernly here. again, my simple reccomendation woudl still be to just add a manual shutoff valve in place of that automatic one, and occasionally let the coolant flow through to keep good antifreeze in the heater core, or if you guys actualy get cold enough to need heat down there.
May come to that but there has to be a place to hook up, just a matter of locating it, rather than rigging up a manual job. It's got to be there somewhere. Hasn't anyone got a 92 vintage truck to look at?
Underdash around the plenum I found three vac lines. The blue connects to the heater plenum door motor. The white goes to engine side of firewall and connects to the A/C plenum door motor. The black goes through the firewall, connects to manifold vacuum block. Another black Tees off it and connects to a port on the plenum. See no other lines/ports.
Have you corrected the problem yet? Instead of trying to search for a vaccum line that may have never existed, what is the problem you are having with the heat/AC?
You should have 5 vaccum lines running to the control panel. Black is the source from the manifold port, Red and Yellow work together for the floor/defrost door, Blue for the panel door, and White for the outside recirc door. The temperature blend door is cable controlled, and runs from the panel to the passenger area behind the glove box. None of the vaccum lines run to the heater core supply/return lines under the hood.
Yes I'm getting cold air, however I think it should be a bit colder. Usually in summer the duct supply temp is 50F - 55F.
All the lines are accounted for. SO I think there must have been a t on the white line, which closes the fresh air door in MAX A/C mode, if so then the hot water was running in every mode except MAX A/C.
There must have been a T connector on the plug port to the outside door and it was discarded with the hose.
DEAR Drusplanet - Thanks for the picture but it's a bit smalll to make out the little vac hose. Can you get a pisture of the vac motor on the plenum for recirc, which is the one next to the fender. If you put something white (napkin, rag) behind the lines they will show up better.
W. Do you still need this. I've been....well, not looking at this forum the past few weeks. If so, I can take some pics before I move my rig into storage on Friday. If not, no worries, it's been really cold here in Boise lately.
YES SIR - WE'VE BEEN HAVING SOME WINTER WEATHER so I haven't worked on it yet. I think I know how it should be but would like to get a picture to make sure.
