I have a 2026 F250 with the 2 kW power on board option. I plan on traveling with a freezer in the bed plugged into the outlet. When I stop overnight at a hotel, can the freezer still be powered by this outlet or do I need to bring the freezer into the hotel?
Better option is to get a generator. While you're driving is one thing, but no way would I want to needlessly idle a $80k+ truck when a $1k generator will do it just as well.
a few things to think about
how well insulated is the freezer, can it manage sitting over night and not thawing out?
and what are the expected over night temps outside?
if its a cool night, and a good freezer it could be left OFF and be just fine
my house small freezers are ok for up to 5 days, with power off
granted house is cooler,
might read the book from the manufacturer of freezer to see about length of time it could be in the off mode and stay cold or frozen
Bring and extension cord and either park near your room or see if they have outdoor outlets. If you are in cold country, lots of hotels have plugs for block heaters that I have used on occasion.
