air bag light
air bag light
Every few days the air bag light comes on. It flashes 2 then 7, does it twice. I found this on a search here. "The flash out code 27 means there is a problem with the Passenger Airbag Disable switch light".
I do have the pass. side airbag turned off, does it matter?

Probably is the reason for the code
Turn the switch back to air bag on and see if the code 27 returns
I've installed a couple of passenger air bag deactivation switches, (on cars like Taurus that did not have then stock from the factory) they do set codes saying the passenger side is inop

The light is tested every time you start the truck whether you have the airbag turned off or not. If you're knowledgeable with soldering you can replace the bulb itself without having to find and purchase an entire switch assembly. The bulb is a '2182' leaded bulb. Just google '2182 bulb' and pick your vendor of choice.
And the flash code happens only every few days? It could be the connector to the switch assembly is loose and is making intermittent contact. Or the bulb is actually bad and the remains of the filament make contact sometimes. The bulb is a 15volt bulb running on 12 volts, so its usual failure is caused by vibration instead of 'burning out'.
