This new engine and tranny combo sounds very impressive,my dad will probably want one..he has the 7.3L and 4R100,which I guess are probably mediocre compared to the new combo.I really applaud the men that worked so hard on developing the new 6.0L and torqshift, both sound like engineering marvels.Once again,Ford is the class leader! I`m delighted to read that the 6.0 and torqshift consistently and significantly outperformed the duramax/allison combo.I`m also impressed that Ford was able to achieve this awesome performance while meeting federal emissions mandates.Ford has shown how important it is not to rest on your laurels if you want to remain the leader. As for me,I`ll just stick with my 5.4L and 4R100.
A man much wiser than me once said "Time will Tell." I was a Tech. Rep on the Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star for 10 years ( large commercial jet airliner) The Airline I worked for had a total of 56 airplanes, the next largest fleets were 23, and 17. We saw many problems on our fleet the other operators never even heard of. The more trucks out there will provide more data on the shortcomings. You can test all you want. Putting the trucks out in the real world, in real world experiences will show what they are made of. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Ford Truck Man, I'm on Ford Truck #11. Think I'll sit back and wait for a year, or so. "Time will Tell"
Gav10 ! I have to agree with waiting on first yr buying of new products!
The little troubles are starting already! nothing big yet though!except 1 bad 5speed torque shift tranny!
I've been searching the other sites, which all of you know about!
So there is no need for me to post about them!
I'll wait and watch ,Though I wouldn't buy an oiler yet any how or an auto !
I was a litle leary when the 5.4's replaced the 351's. I wanted NOTHING to do with them the first year....However my '97 was absolutely the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned....121.000 miles...replaced alternator, spark plugs, oxygen sensor, and brakes twice.....IMO it don't get no better than this......and all of this with a iston slapping" motor. I don't think Ford would release a product that has so much market share without thoroughly testing it to make sure the rollout is smooth. I would have no problem buying one the first year....the only regret I may have is seeing them bump the horsepower in subsequent years....the jelousy would be the only problem...but I am sure by then there will be all kinds of mods for the 6.0.
