Don't know how the RetroSounds are made but if my memory serves me the original radio only required three holes to be drilled the faceplate was separate from the chassis.

Same as the stock radio. I’ve seen a template, or measurements floating around this Forum, from time to time, for those without the radio.
Looks like a pass side sun visor also...was that an option or standard?
LH standard. RH optional on Standard Cab and included with Custom Cab. That sort of option is what's called an RPO (Regular Production Option) which does not require a special order. Neither are the padded visors.
Those are the regular non-padded sun visors. The padded sun visors had no stitching at all around the edges. Heat sealed.
890436 = July, 1966 assembly month - 1966 model year - quite a late build date.
129 = wheelbase in inches
W = Marlin Blue (medium blue) paint
F253 = F250-4 x 2 6,000 Lbs. GVWR
481 - 4 = Medium beige crush vinyl and medium beige wicker pattern vinyl upholstery - 81 = 81A Standard Cab
F = Warner Gear T-18 4-speed transmission
25 = Dana (Spicer) 60 4.56:1 ratio non-limited slip rear
06000 = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
129 = Horsepower @
4000 = RPM
62 = Houston, TX district sales office. Not a special order truck.
However, even though it's not technically a "special order" in terms of a 6-digit DSO - I do believe someone probably ordered this truck rather than it being in dealer inventory as a normal stocking item. To be a "special order" it needs to have something that was not available as an RPO like a custom paint color - different rear axle, transmission and/or engine not available as an RPO - special equipment like a dump bed where it needed to be sent to a third party to have the equipment installed, even tires that were not available on the particular truck as a standard option.
Custom paint is probably the most common cause for a special order. Often colors available in the car line (Mustang, Galaxie, Thunderbird, etc.) that someone wanted on their truck.
A good example of engine and transmission is this truck. A 262 and Clark 5-speed with overdrive in a 1962. Neither were RPOs in an F250 in that year. Shows what Ford would do if requested. Buyer knew what they wanted, for sure. Rare truck.
Shortly after buying my truck, I replaced the rear view mirror with an NOS day/night one having a chromed stem and base. I think it is a Yankee brand, but I don’t care, it looks the part. It’s wider than the stock mirror and fit the existing mounting holes.
Not long afterward, I found a set of Ford padded sun visors from the 60’s - from what I cannot now recall. They were\are in beautiful condition, and in a turquoise that’s a dead ringer for my trucks Interior. The notches in the visors are even right to miss the mirror. I replaced the visor arms with some re-popped chrome arms and visor holders to match, just had to pry open the arm holders and put some new end caps on the arms.
As you can see from the page above the cigar lighter was optional for Standard Cab and standard equipment (included) on the Custom Cab for 1966. No dash pad probably the only reason for the special order among those choices. There was a Delete Option for the heater that would have saved a few more bucks.
I don't have either of your 1966 trucks in my list. Would you mind sharing the data plate from those two?
I have your 1963 4x4 and also gave you credit for mentioning a Ranger an eBay some years back F10YR804723. That one a special order but not because it's a Ranger - that was a Regular Production Option (RPO) - but because of the special-order paint - blank Color code.
Went out and took a pic of Bullseye's tag this evening, he's been sitting for at least a month or 2 and fired right up, have him on Non-Op right now since I already have a slew of trucks lol! From paperwork, and maint. records, the mileage appears to be 1,23k, I'll have to look back at odo and see what it is, but the original owner passed, and it sat after that, was able to retain the og black plates when getting it re-registered.
