Check the battery for voltage. Check the wiring harness near the battery and voltage regulator for damage (fusible links). Headlight switch or wiring to it may be done.

Post up your trucks specifics (year, make, model) and somebody can probably hop on with some helpful diagrams.

Did you by chance hook up the battery connection backwards for a sec, and blow your fusable link? Find that wire and see if it is "streachy".

Generally, you just check for power into and out of the headlight switch
You've done that
If it has power in, the fuse link is good
Did you check the connector and the plastic for being melted or the terminals black?
Next for me is to pull the fuse panel off and check it for being burnt behind the fuse then start ohming out wires
Fun stuff

since you mentioned fuse 2, I assume you are talking cluster illumination and not headlights/taillights? If so, have you rotated the headlight **** to adjust the brightness?

Just off the wall here, but that fuse #2 is a 3 amp fuse that only gets power in when the headlight switch is on. Most of the fuses get power directly from a buss bar .... but not #2 which is dedicated just for instrument illumination and is only used to protect the head light switch from shorts, it serves no other purpose and unless and until the head lights or just park lights are turned on, it will have no power through it.

If you're just testing fuse #2 for volts, it will not have any unless the lights are on. If testing just across the fuse for continuity, if it has none, then it's blown ....

And if fuse #2 is blown .... there you are .... but maybe you knew that already.

Could be a few things working against you; try also checking for voltage at your blinkers, and then check ground continuity from bulb socket to frame.
Also a good time to check ground continuity from frame to batt, frame to cab, cab to batt, and batt to block.

Trace back to where the turns and runs split from the main harness and head front/back; I think at the firewall on drivers side?
Check voltage there.

Also, do you have run lights? Brake lights? Did you check all the fuses? How about flashers? Try swapping flashers if there’s voltage at them.
