Is there a certain order that things need to happen for the tailgate to be opened using the button from inside of the cab?
When the truck is in park, I hit the button twice and there are times where the tailgate does not drop and sometimes it does. When the truck is in reverse, I hit the button in the cab twice and there are times when the tailgate does not drop and sometimes it does.
I don’t seem to have an issue with the key fob. Especially when I’m sitting in the truck and the cab button doesn’t work, I usually just hit the key fob button twice and the tailgate drops down. There is nothing blocking the tailgate or the sensors behind the truck.
It matters on my 23. Doors have to be unlocked and push the button twice.
That’s interesting. I only have to push my button once. I can also push it before I ever exit the truck and it opens, while the doors are still locked. The only time it won’t open is if I’m not in park. Mine is a 24. But it shouldn’t matter.

That is funny, I’m not sure I have to be in park! It took me a couple years to find out the doors had to be unlocked, because it does not say anything about that in owners manual. Learned it here on the forum list.
My 21 had to be unlocked to open. Gear selection was irrelevant. To be honest I haven't tried my 26 enough yet to see. Was just assuming it was same way. My 18 was same as 21 fwiw. Never heard of hitting button twice either?
