Where does this go??!!

Today while I was cleaning my S/D I noticed a small piece of "weatherstrip"...looks just like the weatherstrip on your door frame...minus the rubber gasket..you know the part that clips onto the metal. Well it fell off the driver's seat underneath. It is about 1 foot long. It was...or seemed to be hooked at just a corner and when I bumped it, it fell to the floor. Now the PROBLEM...where does it go???? I looked at the passenger seat and it has this piece nowhere. It must be there to keep the seat frame from slicing either the padding or the leather...BTW I have the 40/20/40 split seats. Does anybody have an exploded view of the seat...or better yet, how 'bout looking at your S/D's under the seat and see if you can tell me where it goes.....I have to tell you little things like this make me Whoever can tell me this gets a huge I'll be eagerly awaiting everyone's replies

Damn it, Pouring down rain and I am out their crawlin around my truck.

Is it on the back of the seat? or the side? I didn't see a rubber peice on the side of the seat......

Where does this go??!!

The things I do at this hour of the night....

I have the twin captains chairs w/ center console, but curiosity
killed the cat and I went out w/ the flashlight to take a look-see anyway. I could not
find anything that resembles exactly what you describe under the power driver's
seat, but I did notice a piece of hard black plastic that kinda looks
like a weatherstrip clip -- it's about 8" long and is attached to the
carpet on the back side of the seat, which pulls it under for a
snug fit and must clip onto the seat frame somehow to hold it down
nice 'n neat. Sorry I cannot describe it better... does this maybe
sound like your "find" ?

Hey, Bob. Yea, I know what you saw....this is just the clip that holds the front of the cover to the seat frame. I don't know...maybe it goes up behind the cushion or sumthin' I know that a few weeks ago the front clip was loose and I clipped it back on...maybe it came from under the cushion between the cushion and seat frame...I'm going to take a closer look at the passenger side tomorrow to see if I can find anything.....Man I hate this! It's the less than abvious that rekindles the **** retentive response.

Where does this go??!!

I don't think the piece is very important. i have a 97f150 and the piece you are talking about fell off after I owned it about a week, then the passenger side did it after a few months. 90,000 miles later, everything still works fine on my seat, and I never did find out where they go.:-)

Hunter40, I got to thinking about it last night. It COULD just be something that was used as protection during manufacturing....and some were removed and some were not. Like I said, I don't readily see it on the passenger side, so aybe it is not a significant piece......just annoying when something falls off.....it aint usually normal if 'ya know what I mean. Thanks for the reply
