Shifter problems

Ok, so short story long.

2000 F250, automatic

One of the ears on my steering column shift tube broke, could not get the truck into park. Replaced the tube with a Dorman from NAPA, I determined that the failure mode was the shift cable that caused the tab to break, extremely stiff. Replaced the cable with a Motorcraft part. In the process of replacing the tube, I buggered up the brake interlock switch in the steering column, so that part has also been replaced.

After getting all the parts back together, I now have to push up on the shift lever to get the key out of the steering column, I have adjusted the shift cable at the transmission, but no help.

Thoughts?
