I need an OEM tailgate camera alternative that uses the OEM camera cable, but lets me keep the tailgate off the truck...I really dont want to disassemble my tailgate to get the camera out of it and just make a bracket on the license plate......but that might be my only alternative.... Hopefully one of y'all has dealt with this issue and has a part number or "kit" you used you can share...Bottom line is this, I only haul a big Truck bed camper in the truck so the tailgate is never on...and I am just tired of the big blue "no camera available" screen when we are backing Helga's big butt up.
They do make a license plate kit but I ended up buying a waterproof box on Amazon along with a longer camera cord to plug it in. As far as the camera goes there are a few different part numbers. I got lucky with the first one I ordered. I didn’t wanna go digging into my new tailgate. That I got on eBay

That's what I used on my 2023. The page is gone but probably other ones on there. The longer cable I cant find in any of my purchase history so I forget where I went for that.
