95 f150 5.0,
Had an alternator go bad on me recently I replaced it with a 3g alternator, and now it isn't charging, are the 3g wiring harnesses any different than the 2g wiring harnesses, battery and alternator are good
You don’t have to change nothing but the plug and run a case ground wire. Bigger power wire is a good idea, but it would work if you used the existing. Amperage difference depending on how big could have overheated the charge wire.
Did the same swap on a 92 460 years ago, wasn't charging either until I spliced the existing (light green w/red stripe I think) wire to the 3g harness.
Very common issue. Verify the Light Green/Red wire has power with the key in the Run position. That is the exciter voltage to turn on the alternator. Without it the alternator becomes a very expensive idler pulley.

shouldnt the 5.0 in 1995 be a 3g originally? not original engine?
