I swapped my old distributor for a practically brand new MSD. I also put a new harmonic balancer on same time, rubber getting bad. I found TDC, rotor was in correct spot and balancer lined up with Zero mark. I use timing light with dial to find 10 degrees BTDC like I've done many many times.
Now when I go to dial in timing, its backwards, clockwise retards and counter advances. I painted the balancer on the Zero mark. Only has one set of marks on this balancer. I am confused, it runs well, starts right up, according to timing light, I am dead on 10 Degrees BTDC but I don't know
which way to move cap now, cause its the opposite of what my stock one was. Are the harmonic balancer marks wrong? It looks like my OEM one. In past, I get good acceleration around 12 degrees with no ping etc.
