2005 Ranger, 1354 transfer case. It seems to be leaking at the seam where the two halves of the transfer case come together -- always dripping, and loses about a quart every month. Leaves a fairly good size puddle overnight. It's a used transfer case from a recycler that I put in last summer to replace my original that had some other issues, and I figured someone probably split the case at some point and didn't reseal it right. It is not leaking from the output shafts. though it is a little noisy at times.
So I figured I'd take it out, again, and reseal it and put new bearings and whatnot in it while I was at it. But... none of the kits that I'm seeing include a gasket for the joint between the two halves of the transfer case housing. What's up? Does that joint just seal with RTV or ?
