It's sad, as they only have 35k miles on them, and a fair amount of tread. But they will be gone before summer arrives. They will make a good set of tires for someone's ranch truck, as they still function well on rocks and dirt, and cactus thorns don't seem to phase them.
Oh yeah, they grow like weeds here. All you have to do is drop a pad on the ground and it will take root, and spread onto a big patch in a year or two. Mesquite thorns are even worse. They will penetrate a tire as easily as a screw or nail.
I'm in the market for new tires.
I put 275/70/18 BFG AT KO2's on the stock Ford chrome wheels when I bought the truck new in Oct. 2016.
Tires are now coming up on 10 years old but only have 28k miles on them.
No cracking, but they have lost their wet grip.
My biggest complaint is the peeling PVD fake chrome on the wheels, none on the tires.
So... I picked up a set of used Raptor wheels that were a little rough and had them refinished @ Detroit Wheel.
The clearcoat was failing and they had scuffs and scratches, even a few gouges. (I got the set for $200)
For $170 a wheel they were stripped, then powder coated with the correct black metalflake, then the surface was re-machined to perfection and the whole wheel was clear powder coated.
They look like new now.
Now trying to decide on which 315/70/17 to go with.
I'm looking at BFG's or Goodyear Territory MT's.
I keep seeing decent deals on new take offs occasionally.
