On the tube just below where it bolts to the dash is where the pawl(H shaped piece)fits. The spring puts tension on the pawl to engage the handle as you pull it out. I had to fumble through that a few months back.
Thank you for your note. I am at a loss as how the spring sits with the pawl, is it placeed on one of the four "teeth" to hold it in place or does it just float.

Many thanks for the photo, I see the long end of the spring which rides on the top of the assembly and figured out how to orient it so there was downward pressure on the "cog" Parking brake back in service!
Now if I can figure out where to get the wire gaskets that are sitting under my Holly #1904 carburetor!
