I own a 89' F 150 with a 302 . It has around 80,000 miles.I was rescently out driving and the motor started pinging , at the same time at the same time I experianced power loss. A weird thing happened, as I was trying to drive up the last hill to make it home the pinging got so bad it blew the ceramic inner out of one of the spark plug. I am not sure what has happened . Could I have a valve train problem or what?
I put new plugs in less than a year ago. I put a new plug in place of the failed plug and it is still pinging and is still under powered. something is wrong somewhere. Sorry about the poll , I am new to this forum and am still trying to figure it out.
Thanks
If it was a bent push rod or a collasped lifter it would run rough. Check your timing! What grade gas do you use? if this problem just started you could of got some bad gas. Just a thought.
I was told that the station where I get my gas has changed to ethonal for the winter. They told me that maybe that could have stired up setement from my fuel tank and that could have plugged my fuel filter or maybe plugged an injecter. Does this sound possible for my trucks symptom.
