Me and some buddies have been throwing around the idea of viper swapping my 78 f100, and u was wondering what people think, how realistic it is. I heard of the i believe 56 f100 viper but wasn't sure where to start looking about it. And just wanted opinions
Anything is possible with enough time and money
At least with that 78 you will have all the room you need
You might want to learn to tune a PIMP X and not run a Chrysler harness or processor
I would run the Chrysler processor and all the sensors, live with the light on for the sensors you cannot easily add
Getting the Pimp X tuned correctly could take a lifetime and still not run as good as a factory Viper with the factory processor
Some of the Holley stuff is real good these days but you will still have tuning issues
Takes me back to plus 1 for the factory processor and wiring
Ding, ding went the trolley, grab your wallet
Yeah, with time and money you can do just about anything.
For a project like this you need to be prepared to have lots of both. Just about anything Viper related is very expensive and the resources for them are waning by the day so you need to be committed to doing a lot of tedious research and ready to learn on your own. Another thing to think about is that parts are becoming more and more difficult to come by. If you're truly serious about this contact Dan Lesser at Viper Specialty regarding an ECU and standalone harness. He is one of the most knowledgeable Viper guys out there when it comes to this sort of thing and he can supply you with just about everything you will need in terms of electronics.
