Does anybody think it possible to remove this paint and get closer to the original green? Previous owner used white spray paint over the whole thing and I used aircraft remover and got a lot of it but there is another layer of paint above the green that seems better quality and harder to remove.
You can try using Comet and Red Scotch-Brite Pads. I have seen this done on Youtube a few times. You can look up Pole Barn Garage, he has done this a few times.
That looks like ir’s not going to happen. The only thing I would suggest if you are determined is do a lot of wet sanding by hand to get JUST the top layers off.
That might be doable.
The aircraft pint stripper I used took every thing down to the bare metal. So in a way you got lucky with the way yours worked. I agree with the others, elbow grease is going to be your best option to control the removal. May try it lightly with some paint solvent and see if it will loosen it, acetone, mek,
That color green was the original color of my now gone 72 f250. Mine had maroon and white paint over it and I wasnt going to wet sand it to death. I ended up sanding it down to whatever was on there good and primed over it all and painted it.

I would only let it sit for around 8 minutes instead of the recommended 45, sort of worked
I registered for this site just to tell you, easy off oven cleaner and a scotch bright pad. Spray the cleaner, wait 20 seconds then scrub. Its amazing.
Ive used Easy-Off oven cleaner before while cleaning up an engine block. I left it on for 5-10 minutes but it didnt really take the paint off. I was just cleaning and degreasing it before repainting the block on a 390 for the old 72 f250.

Oven clean will not strip a quality factory paint. It will remove a crappy repaint over the original paint.
here's my 38 plymouth it worked perfectly on to get the beige paint off and uncover the original green.
I had the same experience with my 68: the chemical strippers would quickly take off the repaint layer but the original factory paint wouldn't budge. Whatever Ford was spraying on these trucks back then was tough stuff.

Thank you so much, working very well. I’ll send a picture when I’m done
