Hello all, I'm new to this forum looking for opinions. I currently have a 2021 F150 3.5L ecoboost with 19800 miles on it. I'm thinking of upgrading to an F250SD for better towing and reliability. I tow a 22' dual axle trailer with a couple of side by sides that's just under 9000lbs maybe 5 to 10 times a year. My problem is payload capacity with the F150. I've also had 11 recalls on my truck already but I'm concerned about the 10r80 issues on the 2022 and older trucks. My powertrain warranty expires in February. I'm looking at a clean 2024 F250 XLT with 12500 miles for $49999. It has the 7.3L Godzilla motor. I'm looking to stay with a gas motor so is this a good price for this truck? What issues, if any, do I have to worry about with these trucks? Thanks.
That price isnt bad especially if its a premium XLT, but if you want to order one a 26 XLT premium with power fold mirrors is what I would start looking at.
It is a premium and close by that's what attracted me to it. I know the older 7.3L's had the lifter/cam issues because of the low oil pressure. I was hoping that was eliminated with the 2023's and up.

Thats actually a pretty fair deal then. Only thing extra the new one would have is LED C lights.
If you are prepared to pay $50k I would just go ahead and get a new one. Whether that's ordering one or buying one off the lot is up to you. I would suggest to spend some time in the build guide and figure out what you actually want. I ordered an XLT Value in 22 and so glad I did. I would have never found one on the lot close to what I wanted. It was much less expensive to order it than buy it off the lot as well. I figure it's not quite as big of a gap today, but there's a good chance that if you order one it would still be less expensive than buying off the lot, and you would end up with a truck spec'ed out the way you want it.
Also, there is a lot of good things being said about the 6.8L motor that would cover your needs easily, and it would also cost less.

I wouldn't have a concern with a 2023 F250 7.3 and it will be a far better choice for towing a 9,000 lb trailer than any F150. We've not had a single issue with our 2023 F350 XLT 7.3
Well I got the Car Fax report and I'm going to skip this truck. It stated there are already 3 owners and the current dealership bought it from an auction. It was originally purchased in north NJ, 2nd owner was in PA, 3rd owner was in WV. Too many red flags there. Plus it has a supposedly "minor" accident on the driver's side. Now I know why it was a good price.

Well I just found another truck, this one is a 2025 F250 XLT premium package 7.3 with 7200 miles on it. It has the Tremor package also. The sticker price on it was $73000. The used price is $58000 and change. I'm going tomorrow to look at it. I did go on Ford's ordering website to price one out. With less options than this truck I was at $70000 so still looking at used for now. Is there anything particular that I should check when going over this truck tomorrow?

Why does someone get rid of their 2025 with 7200 on it?
