Yes, here in Alaska. Most Ford dealers here will install a "Fairbanks" cold weather package. This adds a heavy duty extention cord that feeds an underhood surface mount exterior 4 plug electrical box. This box powers the factory block heater, an additional oil pan heat pad, an additional transmission pan heat pad, and a quality thermostatily controlled battery blanket. When combined with 0W40 full synthetic oil, and a cold weather grill cover, yes you can operate at -40 F. Russ

Might as well just install a diesel coolant heater

In my video of this alternator test, I used the battery blankets, and the data shows the difference. The warmed batteries test starts at 7:20.

The blankets I bought. Ignore the Lithium-Ion notation.

I hear you on that! Even though I live in California, I went from an area where we go from -15*F to 100*F to a place where the temperature swing is ONLY 25*F to 120*F.

When I was interviewing for jobs I was at one location that another candidate asked why there were power outlets in the employee parking (block heaters). He was from San Diego and didn’t realize how cold it would get in Tule Lake (High Desert).

The truck has a diesel coolant heater now and if that fails I've got an inverter generator I can run for a couple hours to heat the block. I've started the truck in -20c after cycling the glow plugs 3 times, but it wasn't happy and don't want to do that very often.

I could only imagine how utterly miserable that must be after a while of living in those negative temps.

In the early 80's I worked at a gold mine in the northern BC Cassiar country. I had battery warming blankets, oil pan heater, block heater and with the 24 V glow plugs the little diesel would start in the -30 / -40 range. When it got colder -40 / -50 I just let the engine run all night. The truck had a manual throttle on the dash and I would set it around 1,400 RPM so it hopefully would not wet stack. It was nice warm and toasty in the morning. I could never really tell what the outside temp was as all the red stuff in the thermometer was in the little bulb at the bottom of the tube. The next trick was ensure the 4X4 hubs were locked, otherwise the grease was frozen and the front wheels would refuse to turn for a bit. The other trick was a hydraulic clutch. With that clutch you could only use it once till all got properly warmed up. Push the pedal a second time and it blow the clutch seals. Shifting the trans into 1st gear first time took both hands as the trans oil was literally molasses thick.

I decided to quit that job when ladders were needed underground and when I asked the carpenter to start the work he came back and said the belt on the saw was frozen stiff and would not turn. That was my last straw. I hate cold and snow. And the darkness. Never saw the sun from mid November to end of February.
