I did some digging and don’t see the relay for the Daggum supplemental heating option. Truck was a California shipped vehicle and now I have it in Tennessee (2nd owner). However, it does and did, have that nifty hand warmer on the steering wheel.
Recently, I was sideswiped by a box truck which caused over $18,000 in damages…..front driver fender, drivers door and and rear door, plus the mirror, window and sunroof was tweaked, doing some damage to the cable on the drivers side (saved me $3300 to fix on my own). It went to Ford because they needed to troubleshoot something and had it 2 days. I presume they fingerbanged the ole ForScan system to reprogram the mirror and sunroof, which may have caused the heated steering wheel to come out of program. It turns on at the screen, but does not get warm at all. Heater seats work perfectly though. I read somewhere that an OTA update can potentially cause some options to “turn off” and no longer work.
Can such a theory be the case? I’m going to take it back to Ford, but probably needs to go back from the body shop and not by me.
Pull the center cover off the steering wheel and check the connection to the heating element in the wheel. If the screen icon is there and it seems to be working, I doubt anything is wrong with the truck programming.

I am not sure I am going to run down that skunk hole. With airbags in the steering wheel, I don't have a shunt to put in place while I finger bang the steering wheel. Since it stopped working after going to Ford, I am going to go that route first. I just wish it had the supplemental heater option as well as the plug in behind the bumper. Damn CommiFornia trucks....lol
