What are the most reliable kits. I am mostly concerned for the tuning portion. Looking for basic longevity as the only problems I’ve had with my 2016 have been emissions related .
thanks !
Tuning is for sure the most important aspect regarding deleting. My understanding is that most companies use the same ‘canned’ tuning which in some cases can be problematic therefore finding a company with great customer service is paramount. If you’re gonna do it, I recommend EZ link. It’s a much better solution than the standard plug in devices and the best tuners use EZ link. You’ll just want to find a tuner that writes their own tunes.
I don’t know if there is a ‘best’ or ‘most reliable’ kit on the market. I think the parts are all mostly the same (probably the same manufacturer). I’d just pay attention to material quality, stainless steel vs aluminum pipes if that is important to you.
I’ve heard really good things about Valley Center.
The EZ Link plugs in to your OBD port and communicates via an app on your phone. No laptop or separate device is needed to upload/download tuning files.
On edit, a couple of use were responding at the same time time……
EZ Lynk is a device that plugs into the OBD2 port. You link it to their app on you iPhone or Android device and create your own account. As you purchase a tune, the person writing or selling you the tune will give you their email address and you add them to your profile as your ‘technician’. They then send you the tunes or tune and you select one and program your truck.
You will be asked if you want lifetime support, or short term, usually a month. Over the course of the period selected you can experiment with different tunes, locking in on one at the end of the period.
As you purchase tunes you will be asked if you want engine only tuning or engine and transmission tunes.
I think if you are looking for stock power levels no transmission tunes it’s pretty easy to get a good tune. As you add power and transmission tunes you need to be very selective because a lot can go wrong.

Yes Deisel Dudes does have EZlink and it works great. I had an issue with connection of EZlink which they corrected immediately over the phone. My issue not the equipment. Got a call from them a day or two later checking on me to make sure everything was ok. That's great customer service!!
I have no personal experience but I personally know two 6.7 Powerstroke owners who used Diesel Dudes, one had a problem with the wrong tune, he did not use EZ-Link IIRC, and it was immediately straightened out and made right by the next day I believe...

Reason: correct post
Thank you so much for the explanation , I will do some reading !
There ya go... the best way to make yourself a more educated consumer is to research and learn. But there's a lot of knowledge here as well.
Just taking a look at what Diesel Dudes have for tuners, for your 16 they have the EZ Lynk the guys talked about which uses cloud software and the Bully Dog BDX flash tuner. I do know that they both hook up to the OBD2 to flash the PCM in the truck, but for the users here who know, does the EZ Lynk set up a connection to the cloud and the tune comes from the cloud, then through the EZ Lynk to truck... or how does that work if someone knows? I'll never say never for deleting my 16 as I am not having any issues but having basic knowledge is nice. Thanks.
Now that I am thinking, the one friend who traded his deleted 15 or 16 (can't remember exactly) for the 24 or 25 he has now, he took me for a ride and he had the stock power tune with the muffler installed, and it was pretty quiet. It was going through the stock exhaust tailpipe IIRC. If I was to delete, I'd do the muffler as well. And don't forget the Shibby Engineering plug kit for all the unplugged connectors.
Here's a good comparisan between the BDX and the EZ Lynk from their website. Plus price, EZ Lynk is more.

For the EZLynk, you create an account and your tune assigns the correct tunes to your profile/truck in the cloud. Whatever tune you choose to load, you will download to your device first. Depending on your tuner, you may be able to upload data to the cloud for them to view if you experience an issue.

One other thing to note, when I tuned my 16 I had an SCT tuner that was tied to the truck, it had the stock tune in it as well as the other tunes I purchased. With the EZLynk it seems that the device can be used on multiple vehicles, that my ezlynk account it the connection tied to my truck.
A friend with a 17 deleted when new wanted an updated tune, and the ezlynk technician told him he could use my ezlynk, he’d just need to create his own account.
I’m unsure with this generation of PCMs if the stock tune is extracted, and then the purchased tune is loaded like with my old SCT. When I log into my account I do not see my stock emission tune in my account, only a copy of the tune I bought.
