Head Gasket Leak
I have a 95 Ford Explorer. I think I have a leak coming out of the right head gasket, just above the freeze plugs. Leak is at 3 different locations along that side. I tried putting in some sealers (Coastal & The dandruff capsule thing), but it still leaks. I have been monitoring the leak and maybe once a month I end up filling the reservoir tank. I just want to make sure that the problem is the head gasket and not something else that I can fix. I got a quote for about 1100 and leaning towards fixing it. I noticed the leak when I went to replace the oil filter two months ago. I have not notice any power lost or anything indicating that there water on the oil. What should I do? Thanks,

first thing you can buy a black light dye that you add to the cooling system.then you run the engine to operate temp.Then you check it with a black light the dye will show you where the leaks are you say you found it while changing oil it could be intake gaskets leaking from the corners look for the highest point of the dye (leak) this should give you a good idea what it is

Lamar makes a good point. Head gaskets usually leak air into the water jacket when they go. I had a leak on my 91 I thiought was from freeze plug over oil filter but turned out to be the intake manifold to head, gasket deteriorated at the water passage port. Also found all intake bolts loose. Simple fix but was more time consuming than it should have been.

My 91 had the same problem and that's how I found it
Like Dialtone said not to bad to do just time consuming
