Im a new user from aust
I own a 77 short wheelbase custom 351 cleavland.
question whats the difference between 77 F150 & F100
We only see f150,s here in the 80,s
There are just suspension differences. If I remember right some trim packages and engine combo's were only available with the 150 also. Some of the other guys can tell you more that have period literature.
I think when they were producing both ('70s and early '80s), the F100 was the half ton and the F150 was a heavy half ton. Because the emissions laws at that time were based on vehicle weight. So Ford made a heavier half ton to side step the emissions requirements for a couple years.
that was a trick question , the 351C was produced 1970-1974 AND was never offerd in a pickup.
it's not a 351W either because that engine was not being produced at the time.
you most likely have a 351M/400 ('70-'82)
all parts interchange with the 351M/400 and 351C except for the crank, rods, pistons, push rods, intake, balancer, and maybe the fly wheel too.
whats the 4th digit in your VIN?
you're not the only one that mistaked a 351M/400 for a 351C. you learn something new every day.
I know a guy that swears that the 351M in his truck is a 302, and a guy that thinks the 200 I6 in is mustang is a 289 V6.
It would suck if you orderd push rods for your "351C" and they were an inch short wouldn't it.
Remember, dodo is from Australia, and it's a whole different ballgame down there. I'm sure he can confirm that the 351C lasted a lot longer in Australia than it did in the U.S. They don't have the insurance companies breathing down their neck about fast cars, and the emissions are "looser" than in U.S.
Oh... no one told me he was in Australia.
do you have to have insurance down yonder?
I think might like it down there, but they drive on the wrong side of the road.
They did things different down under. There are a lot of good parts available down there that we don't have up here. I think they produced the 400 for a lot longer there also. The 400 had the closed chamber heads also. They also had better gas...
