Well after buying a 6.0 I always knew i'd end up on here but didnt think it'd be for the trans. About a month ago I bought a 2003 F-350 6.0 with the 5R110 trans. The entire truck has ran fine for a while but I have had to replace some things such as oil cooler and HPOP seals. Besides the motor, I have never had any issues with the trans. It hits each gear smoothly. Recently I brought the truck off-road which I have done before and had an injector failure. I was flat towed home in neutral which was around 5 miles. About a week later I replaced the injectors and the truck runs great. I went down the street and when the trans went into 3rd gear the truck hopped and went back into 2nd. I scanned the trans and found a P0730 and P2704 as well as a fault indicated in the "Low reverse clutch". I have checked the fluid which looks good but does have a little clutch material. I then replaced the Low/Reverse solenoid which is Solenoid E. Then I drove down the driveway and continued to have the same issue, the wheels locked up in 3rd gear and went back into 2nd. I put the truck into manual 3rd gear where it moved but was very tight. I'll add some pictures. If anyone has had a similar issue please let me know. Thanks
Thanks I think ultimately that’s what I’m going to have to do anyways I’m not very knowledgeable with transmissions but how did the low reverse clutch get destroyed if flat towed in neutral?
@Kwarren How fast did you go in that 5 miles of towing?
@Mark Kovalsky Are these trannys more susceptible to damage being towed than others? or was this just bad luck? 5 miles isn't very far, but if dropping a driveshaft is required then that's what I'll do if that time comes.
This trans doesn't like to turn without the engine running, which runs the pump. The trans ran for 5 miles with parts turning and no lube. It's not a burnt up bearing, though there could be some burnt up. What's causing the problem is that the clutch got hot enough that it welded itself together.

ok that makes sense it’s welded with how it reacts
had me wondering cause a bad clutch alone just doesn’t propel the vehicle at all and his locked up
