Hey guys. For a while now I've been wanting to convert my header 3 bolt flanges to something easier and more dependable. I found this system and am going to give it a try.
There is a graphite gasket the sits between the male and female pipes, and the two get clamped together.
Here is the company, out of Oregon. They have a site with stainless too. They were prompt to post. I'm looking forward to cutting off the 3bolt flanges and welding these on. I hope they will be a good, long lasting seal.
Looks very simular to a V band clamps used on helicopter bleed air start lines. Just make sure to have it all clamped and tightened in place before you go and weld it in.

Good point. When I read your post I imagined all the probs that could arise during install.
I think the weak point is the graphite seal/gasket.
Well I know on Army helicopter bleed air tube v band clamps connections there are NO gasket used. But some times a orange silicone like material slip tube is used. I would have it all connected and torqued down and in the position that you are going to normally have it in, then weld it up.
