Not going to argue the points, because there’s truth to them. I will say by my one person experience I had no issues. I have removed this 6.7 starter three times, (for maintenance purposes), and that bolt was always tight, and stays tight, as do the others. I do use blue loctite on all three bolts, but that’s no different from any other starter I’ve ever installed. Do what ya want, this is what I did. No worries, there’s multiple ways to skin a deer…. Just make sure the knife is sharp.
If you are using blue Loctite, which is medium strength, then there is no issue. Most people don’t, but you’re thoughtful about the things you do. I just bring it up because I’ve seen the issue, and finally Ford addressed it with the 6.7L. I first saw this happening when I owned my 7.3L back in 2001.
No worries at all. Your vast amount of experience in these matters far out weigh mine. Same is true with many of the other contributors to this post. Really the only reason I rethreaded the 6.7 starter was so I could keep my good 6.0 starter in the truck as a spare and use the same bolts. After the 6.7 starter proved itself I gave away the old 6.0 starter.
