My '77 F150 4x4 is still on it's "well greased & still good" OEM ball joints, it's never seen a tire bigger than a 31x10.5-15 and at near 110K I think they'll last, but I just saw something I'd never actually heard of, a ball joint delete that replaces the ball joints with spherical bearings. Ball joints on a solid axle really only turn right or left like a bearing. If I had it lifted and running oversize tires off road, this kit would be something I would look at closer at. I had not realized there was such a kit, but I had imagined it. Maybe is a common mod in some circles, I just thought might be someone else out there that might be looking for such

Thanks for the link! I'm not a rock crawler but own a D44 axle truck as well as a D60 truck. With the unknown quality of OEM ball joints, this might be my next project.
Ball joint delete cost is really for the hardcore $$$ rock crawler crowd...IMO and my wallets ability anyway. Spicer and or Moog are the normal quality replacement, but can be hard to find sometimes. I got these Metotech TTX for my 71 Bronco crawler and they are hanging in there pretty good.
So I had a little bit of ball joint play, lets change them out...easy enough right?
THAT lower passenger side ball joint was NOT coming out.... until I fired up the smoke wrench. Come to find out the bottom hole on the steering knuckle was OVAL. Time for a different differnet knuckle.
Glad I had 4wd parts trucks, and the Mevotech's are a nice upgrade. And they come with the installation ring/tool.
