Powerstroke vs pre-Powerstroke

Has anyone purchased a new powerstroke and then wished they had stayed with the old 7.3L that they put in ford trucks before the powerstroke or is the powerstroke hands down better?

Thumbs up My take

Have several friends that have upgraded to the newer 7.3 and each says that they wished they had done it sooner. Have a couple that have the new 6.0 and they are also happy. well the ones that the eng is holding together. Couple have already had thier bought back by ford. I'll stick to the 7.3 for now....

Yeah, my pre power stroke is slow, but it just seems to have problems that are easier to figure out than the powerstroke, and if you get a bad powerstroke you might never figure it out, I want a powerstroke myself but we are just now getting to the point where powerstrokes will be proving or disproving their longevity. the pre power strokes have proved to be a long running engine Iwould like a powerstroke Excursion but sometimes I think I will always keep my IDI 7.3 around.........

Pre-Power Stroke

Made two mistakes, Went up to PSD, Went with AOD. Have a 89 F-250 7.3, it has 160K and its reliable, simple and generaly less expensive to maintain. Put my first glow plug in this week, a waterpump at 125k and a pump at 112K. Thats it. My PSD has cost me $2K for one injector, CPS, and fuel pump.

I hope it get's better.
