That tailgate looks a lot better than many I’ve seen guys here using, it’s the least of your worries at this point.
If all you’re worried about is that dent along the left top rail - well, I wouldn’t. It matches the overall look of the truck. Just start cleaning it up. Get the brakes/fuel/ignition system in good working order. Replace the bed wood. Clean the engine bay. Drive it awhile.
You’d be surprised how good an original vintage truck can look, warts and all, and maybe you’ll want to keep and use it as is.

It's rusted out along the bottom....all the way across.
This is the closest one to you 265 miles away. I wouldn't hold out for a blue one it ain't like they were making them last week. Any gate is going to be truck freight unless you can drive to it. McClurg Auto Parts
Probably easier to find a hot rod shop that can fabricate and weld in new metal to repair the rusted areas. Patina can be paint matched too.
I agree, the cost of a tailgate plus shipping and knowing it will never match the rest of the vehicle might want to consider this alternative seriously. You get to keep the 95% of the original patina that matches the rest of the vehicle. Just fix what is broken: rusted.

Patina is just a fancy way of saying, “needs paint.”
I'm guilty of that but consider the fact that I wont be worrying about door dings and such.. A $6 spray can can do wonders to the indiscretions of others.
F250 tailgates are taller and wider than F100 gates, fyi. If you're intent on replacement, make sure you don't buy the wrong one.
It is available in reproduction if you wanted to lay out that kind of cash, although from what I've seen of people's asking prices for their used up junk, it could be a bargain. https://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb...5Z5Z50000266b#
The 8’ flareside, mostly F250s and what you have, and the short bed flareside, F100 only, use different tailgates. As far as I know the one you need is not reproduced. The chances of finding a tailgate in better shape than what you have is slim, the chances of finding a good in the correct color is almost zero.
