Ooh, I like that idea. Looks like you'd have enough room to work without wrestling the tank down or trying to maneuver the bed completely off. (I've seen the latter accomplished with a big engine hoist.) I would like to replace the rubber hose above the tanks so may try your method.

One question for anybody who has removed the bed bolts. I plan on using an impact gun, starting with a low setting and working up as needed. Looks like a 2 man job no matter what. Did it work better to hold the nut from below and spin the bolts from above? Or visa versa?

You have the factory bolts? There is no holding them on the top, they have a smooth rounded carriage bolt type head. You have to rely on the square hole in the bed to hold them, and if they are rusty, that gives up pretty quickly.

On the bottom there is little room for any help from a impact. It is ratchets and wrenches, and if they are rusty, you might not get them loose. It's not a fun job. Most of the time I end up taking a grinder and grinding the carriage bolt off completely on top. Then you can lift the bed up, but the bolt is still not coming out. The bolt is very large on top, but smaller on the bottom. So you have to take a sawzall and cut the bolts close to the top of the frame to get them out completely.

My bad. I just double checked and they are the smooth head style, like a carriage bolt. I must have been thinking of the trucks at work, which take a big Torx bit.

This is not to be misinterpreted as me being the W word, but merely less correct than usual.

I and someone just did this, used the impact on all but the bolt over the side tank s it is tucked up behind it.

Start spraying the bolts for a week or 2 before you plan on removing them. I was also removing the cab and suspension so I sprayed everything when under the truck for the bed bolts.
Bed, cab, suspension bolts came right out.
