Hey, everyone. I bought a 2010 F-150 XLT a couple of months ago. The vehicle only had 30K miles on it and was in mint condition. Amazing barn find. Anyway, I was looking through the owner's manual and there's a card with the keypad PIN to unlock/lock the vehicle. The only thing is, the drivers side door does not have a keypad, so I do not think this option was purchased. I've been looking online and see that I can buy a new door handle with the keypad cutouts, and a new keypad for a very reasonable price. Installation looks pretty standard, but my question is does anyone know if the outlet for the keypad plug just hanging inside the door frame? An example would be my trailer brake controller outlet. This vehicle does not have the MAXX tow package, which comes with a brake controller, so the factory just taped the outlet to the wiring harness and put a cap on the end of it. I was able to use that for my aftermarket brake controller and it worked perfectly.
I'm wondering the same for the door keypad and hoping that I only need to find the outlet and plug the new keypad into it. I wanted to ask here before I tear the door apart. haha

I believe your hunch is correct. The plug should be hanging inside the door and I don’t believe it needs programming. The keypad is just an input device. You should already be activated just from having the power package already.

@unibody62 if you look on the cabin fuse box, they put the code for the vehicle on there. I had a 2007 Mountaineer that didn't have the PIN card in the owner's manual, and that vehicle came with the keypad. After looking around online, I found that Ford puts the PIN on the cabin fuse box. Strange, and it took some strain, but I was able to find it. On this YouTube video below, it looks like you have to remove the fuse box from the sidewall and it's on a sticker behind it.
@UrbanCowboy thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out, maybe after it warms up here in NE Ohio. I probably could find a keypad/handle from a Pull-a-part yard. There are 3 in my area that aren’t terribly far away.
That could be a key code for the SJB or it could be one from an aftermarket stick on keypad that was removed. The code for the SJB will be on the SJB as described by Urban Cowboy. The connector for the factory pad is a green round connector mounted on a bracket inside the door near the window run.
This is all very helpful. Thank you! I'm going to pull the trigger on it this Spring when it warms up. I'll be sure to take photos and report back. Maybe others can take advantage of a little upgrade too. Keypads are nice to have, and I miss having one.
This video helped me find mine on my 2010. I had the keypad from factory, PO lost the card in the manual. Ironically it was printed in some paperwork I got with the truck, I just didn’t notice.
Another option which I did to my 09 XLT, was adding the stick on keypad. I bought the pad from the dealer, had them turn it on in Forscan and then programmed it in the parking lot. Keypad comes with its own card and 5 digit code that goes in the manual. I washed the truck, let it dry in the sun, then used the included alcohol wipe to clean the spot where I wanted it. Stuck it on, held it for a few seconds, then stepped back and realized it was slightly crooked haha. Anyway, just food for thought. The keypad and shop time cost me like $240, so not exactly cheap.

The stick on keypad is very simple to install and program. It doesnt require being enabled, it programs just like a keyfob as it is just a stick on remote with a keypad.
It's funny you mentioned that, I actually found that today. I'm installing a remote starter this summer as well, and wanted to see if there was an OEM option, and I found this. I may just go this route instead of tearing the door apart. Good call!!

If it’s a factory remote start make sure the keypad and factory remote start will work together. I can’t remember if it was the dealer or on here, somebody mentioned to me that it was either one or the other. I’m not sure if it was bs or what, I can’t see how the two would conflict but maybe something else to look into. Like I said it could be bogus, but it would be expensive to find out they don’t mesh lol.
I’ve had my stick on keypad for 3 or 4 years now, no issues. It wouldn’t unlock the truck when it was covered in thick heavy frost, but it was only one time so I’m not sure what was up with that. Never happened again. Other than that, best money spent imo

Some need to be paired with the truck, mine did. When I put the truck in the add key fob mode, both my fobs cycled the locks like they should but the keypad wouldn’t. Tried several times. Took it into the dealer for 30 mins n all was well. I wasn’t back there to see what exactly went on however
