Hi
I was in the same storm. The Sam's Club parking lot in Concord was unplowed. Wife threatened me that I would get stuck if I went in it. Well a challenge is a challenge. Through the snowplow snowbank and up thru the unplowed I went. Didn't even slow it up. I even stopped to show her how good it is.
Tires? First thing I did when I bought the Ex. Got rid of the flipstones and put BFG all terrain at's on it. God I love this truck and this first storm clinched it for me
You can not go wrong with the BGG All Terrain KO's! Absolutely hands down, the best traction tire I have ever had. My driveway is very steep and before I got my X, I had the same tires on my 1/2ton 4X4 pickup. It went 50 miles through unplowed 24" snow we had in the Carolina's a couple years ago. Absolutely no problem, no slipping. Hammer the brakes and it stops quick. Hammer the pedal, and it just takes off like a bat out of h...!
Now, with a new set of BFG's on my X, and winter here now, just waiting for that first snow to compare it to my Pickup.
Hope I don't have the same problem you are having.
The only difference in my X is that it does not have Positive Traction like my Pickup had.
Others have commented that it would not be a problem, but I am thinking it will on my driveway????
I had 295/75/16 BFG all terrains T/A on my 1999 Chevy silverado and the were okay off road, but on wet streets they were not that great. They weren't too good on the little snow we get here in my area either. I just ordered some Bridgestone Revo A/T 285/75/16 for the Excursion yesterday and will let you know how they do.
Not sure I get it on not being good on little snow or wet? I tow a boat and have locked down on rain and never did these tires break loose. Driving fast in heavy rain and these tires don't come close to anything I have had in the past to hydroplaning, they feel and handle great in the rain where my Firestones, I was in death mode if I drove over 45 to 50 in any medium rainfall.
Well, we agree on the firestones! They absolutely suck unless you are on a dry road. Mine only have 22K miles on them and look like they could go another 60K according to tread depth. My family is worth more than $600 for a better set of tires.
BTW, mine weren't the K/O so maybe they changed the material of the tires.
My x stunk in the snow, it has the firestones on it. My 97 F-250 has the BFG all terrains on it and it is like a tank in the snow. If the truck starts to slip hit the gas and it digs in and straightens right out.
The Goodyear Workhorse, aggressive tread. Handsdown. Got'em on my f150 worktruck. Never been close to stuck. Although they hum pretty good on the highway.
