Radio resets during longer cranking
Radio resets during longer cranking
I have a 92 Ford F250 with the 7.3l diesel engine. The prior owner has already installed an aftermarket stereo which I’d like to replace. One problem to resolve is the stereo resets during longer cranking, like when it’s cold outside, which causes the Bluetooth setup to be lost. The battery is newer and in good condition. Does anyone have suggestions for either a fix, or an aftermarket stereo which is less susceptible to this problem?
I hadn't thought about that. The PO is a really great guy, but doesn't know much about wiring, so that could be it. If so, it's an easy fix. I'll try to get that checked out today.
Sounds to me like the battery maybe in a weak state, just because it’s “newer” doesn’t mean its good. I suggest having a load test done on the battery to determine it’s condition, then if it tests good I suggest you clean your battery terminals real well incase they’re dirty as that could also cause the issue you’re seeing, and see what that does for you.
It did it with a new battery. It's just a heavy old diesel that requires longer cranking in the cold weather, 5-10 seconds, even after the glow plugs are up to temperature.
