Those akebono's look to be a semi-metallic formulation, not going to be a low dust pad, a fleet replacement pad.

I did order the PowerStops.

Just thinking out loud is all.

Reviving this thread, as I need to replace my front pads (got 108K on OEMs, so just now needing pads - not too shabby).

I'm thinking about ordering the PowerStop MDK6403 pads and rotors set from RockAuto (good price, even with tax and shipping beats Amazoo by $75), but will do a little more research about those rotors, first. If it turns out that the rotors are poorly reviewed I'll just order separate rotors and still go with the Z36 pads.

Before I hit the web, does anyone have any thoughts about particular rotors they'd like to share?

What about R1 Concepts? I really like that they're slotted and drilled.

Do you really need new rotors?
Original rotors are very good, and unless they are gouged, grooved or warped, I wouldn't replace them.
I would just deglaze them with a scotch brite rotary disc and put new pads on.
I recently installed the Z36's on mine and did just that with the rotors.
Z36's keep my wheels and tires much cleaner.
I have R1 concepts on my Corvette, rotors are great but pads not so much.
And, yes, do not do drilled rotors on a HD pickup.

Yeah, the more I think about drilled and slotted the more they're making less sense. Alright, I'll stick with solid rotors.

I figure with 108K miles it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them. Especially if they're only $150 (
Detroit Axle Detroit Axle
, e.g.).

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to power-bleed the brake fluid, while I'm at it (purge the old fluid and replace with some fresh).

Original rotors on my truck have 273,000 miles on them...so far!

Also, one of the MUST DO items on a brake job for these trucks is to SERVICE THE CALIPER SLIDE PINS, grease the heck out of them before reassembly.
