I have an 89 F 250 2wd. Has anyone tried to re-drill the hub bolt pattern to match the newer trucks? There is always lots of newer take off rims for like 2000+ trucks on FB Market place.
I wouldn't do it, unless you have a drill press and machinist experience. Everything needs to be done correctly for a modification like this to last. I've seen studs pull through a flange after being left improperly torqued, on two occasions.
One was a plow truck I owned. I didn't properly torque the lug nuts. The right front wheel came off while I was plowing.
The other was a 45' East trailer, that was maintained by the company I drove for. Both right rear axle wheels came of the trailer.
I got lucky both times, and no one was injured.
Hey, thanks for the advice. I'm fortunate enough to have a small but well equipped hobby machine shop in my garage. I have a milling machine and tooling for the job.
