Yes, I've retained the ambient light sensor that faces the windshield. The driver facing sensor is blocked, but who cares cause that particular sensor apparently only affects autodimming of the OE rearview mirror (which is now replaced with the wolfbox). I did play around with mounting areas like the headliner and found what I think is the least ridiculous. The logic board is actually rotated 180, so it's sitting upside down. Still ridiculous, but less than the other options.
Yes, after installing the wolfbox and prior to doing this ghetto-mod, I found that the dash lights were super dim upon startup, then would eventually brighten up while driving. This truck isn't my daily, so I haven't spent enough drive time to determine if this ghetto solution totally rectifies the autodimming. Hopefully I can put some miles on the thing soon.

Since this thread was started in November of 2025, I noticed that FTE Sponsor @Wolfbox announced a Firmware Update (v1-6-3_251103) for the Wolfbox G900 Tripro Dash Camera as posted on November 14, 2025.

The firmware appears to have been released on November 3, 2025, if I am interpreting the numerical code at the end of the version revision number correctly.

While the update won't house Ford OEM equivalent sensors back in place, it is at least useful to know that Wolfbox can and does update the product via firmware revisions.

Therefore, if there are any other user and useabilty suggestions that Wolfbox should listen to, that could potentially be resolved by firmware, consider reaching out to Wolfbox via PM or via the thread link in the sentence above, to provide your input.

That’s correct, the Wolfbox units can be updated, and within the mirror’s menu you can select to ck & update firmware.
To work with Ford or other manufacturers light sensor for dash lights, Wolfbox would need to add a sensor and compatible interface plug.
Or include an enclosure mount to mount Ford’s light sensor circuit board… I’d prefer the first option where they provide the light sensor interface.

I was considering reaching out to Wolfbox on sensor interface question.

Thank you my friends, for supporting and discussing our products. Sorry I didn't see this thread until now.

I'm happy to answer some questions here. I'll start with:
  1. Wolfbox dash cam doesn't equip with auto-dimming. You need to change the screen light manually in the setting.
  2. Regarding the needs for RV owners about the wireless cams, yes, we hear you.
  3. Wolfbox dash cam can be used as backup camera if you connect the rear cam correctly. Normally, red wire to the positive pole.

Do you have a version that can use 3 external cameras.
IE, both sides and rear of a trailer? (does not have to be wireless).

Thanks for joining the thread. I sent an email eariler mentioning our forum discussion.

You indicated in email that you didn’t have solution currently to house the OEM light sensor board.

As a possible cross platform enclosure, would be great if you could integrate a small thin enclosure box that would fasten to the back of your Mirror. Even if Owner needed to modify: cutting connector plug, foam tape to secure board internally. Mainly an enclosure that attached to your mirror would be very helpful.

Let me ask the dumb question
could we simply mount the wolf box rear view below the factory and just keep it on as a live camera view..similar to what we do in our rv bus

You technically could by simply adding a 2nd windshield glass mount base. You can easily mount to Ft of OEM Mirror like most digital mirrors and the light sensor remains on OEM mirror.

It's in our plan.
