What do you guys think of it? I was a big nut of the original, but I don't have cable so I won't see the new ones

I worked for one once

 

Watched it last night and it was not bad great
special effects and the story line will probably be OK.
They did a good job to follow the original concept
again great graphics

 

Here's a funny one. Back when universal studios had a battle star galactica theme, we sort of had a picture opportunity. Remember the Sillons? They were the silver robots with a red line that went across the face (like the Knight Rider car).

Anyways, my mother insisted on getting a picture with Apollo and his partner Starbuck. That was great. Then, mom noticed a Cylon walking past us. She yelled out to "hey, can we get a picture with you?". No response. Then she yelled "what an A-hole".

Well, mom got her opportunity. The Cylon put her in a headlock, and we got HER picture. Talk about priceless!! Ah, those were the fun days!

 

i remember when they had that...that part of the tour was better than the rest of it put together. that is all i remember from the tour, that the laser show was better than the rest. the rest was so tame compared to the excitement i felt from that...i wanted to see it again and again.

i was SO disappointed when they got rid of that, i almost cried.

 

I absolutely LOVED the original,

but this new one had a few changes in it which irritated me a bit,
first of all, the original storyline was that the Cylons were a genetic race which evolved from a reptilian form over many millennia into their current robotic machine forms.
The more mechanized they became, the more real blood and tissue became despised for it's limitations and inefficiencies within Cylon society. Eventually all original Cylons(the reptilian forms)
were made to adapt to this new existence, and those who refused complete mechanization were eventually destroyed by
those who were.
In the new version this whole storyline has been changed-now man made the Cylons, and their creations turned against them.
The Cylons have no genetics, they are simply mindless androids.

Second is the look of the Cylons themselves, the android soldiers are just that-androids-while they do look cool-they are not Cylons
as we've all known them (original Cylon Centurions had brains in their heads and were actually capable of having emotions along with being able to think for themselves to a degree-Lucifer had two brains). One of the coolest things about the original was the whole concept of what a Cylon was, they managed to reproduce themselves with the choicest DNA, extracted from their natural gene pool, this was used to create natural brains which allowed the cyborgs to be self aware-having memories,emotions,learning capacities, etc,etc, all enveloped in a highly efficient-low maintenance, immensely strong combat chassis- Cylons did'int just kill because they were programmed to-they could actually HATE!

Another thing, in the original the Cylons had set out to conquer nearby galaxies for their resources, and to enslave what they deemed to be "less efficient organisms" than themselves, during one of these conquests, the human colonies gave assistance to those who were at war with the Cylons, and the Cylons( due to
their highly evolved brains,)were never able to forget or forgive this interference. Man became their target of choice from this point on.
Instead of this highly detailed history presented in the original, the second one simply states that the androids that man created somehow became self aware and turned on their masters-a bit of Terminator influence here is my guess.

Those are my main beefs, but there are a few other less noteworthy annoyances which deserve a foot note;

1.)Apollo is a spoiled little brat who hates his daddy.
2.)We now have Cylons who like having sex with humans.....
3.)Starbuck is a blonde tom boy who's mouth(one of the biggest I've ever seen) is just perfect for..well, you know...
4.)Boomer is an asian princess...

I went out of my way to see this mini series- killed my online gaming for 3 nights.. I was not all that impressed with it.
Why it is that all these producers and script writers think that they can ,or even need to improve on original concepts is beyond me. Dont know what theyre going to do with this series just yet, but it's going to have to get better than it's been if I'm going to watch it on a regular basis.

 

Watch it, Starbuck looks JUST like my ex.....

 

It is a bit different.............still a good standalone story.

I liked it alot. I didn't realize it was only 2 pts until last night. I figured mini series was at least gonna be 3 pts. Knew they had made some changes with gender but was surprised they did both Starbuck and Boomer.

 

Cannot figure out when it comes on next?

 

i dont recall starbuck having *****? i would have had my first crush on her instead of daisy duke.. Kurt
