New batteries(and testing of old)
I ran two extra batteries for a long time by installing an isolator "switch" (dual rectifier Perfect Switch from Power Gate) to electrically isolate the two extra batteries. That switch had the ability to "activate" a bypass circuit so I could use the extra two batteries for emergency electrical supply to the engine/processors/starter if I ever needed. I kept the extra batteries in OEM battery trays mounted under the passenger frame rail.

The setup worked well with a good power inverter that I carried with me (didn't want to permanently mount it).
I recently took them off to do some inspections on the trays and brackets and left them off just long enough to get my shoulder replaced before re-installing them. Maybe 4-6 months from now I can re-install them, lol.

That system would be sweet, but a bit much for what I need I think.
To keep things simple I figure I can just power the coolant heater via the truck camper battery bank which is hooked up to solar and that way I'm not putting so much load on the new starting batteries which would also have to power the glow plugs for a short time right after running the coolant heater for 45-60 minutes and I figure that will really lessen the life of the starting batteries so why not use the 2x brand new deep cycles batteries in the truck camper.
Does that make sense to you lol?
