I thought I heard that when you put your trailer information into they system on the new super duties, then when you have it hooked up, the navigation (google maps) will account for your trailer when picking a route. Is this true? If so how well does it work, or does it leave you in a sticky situation?
You have to use the built in Ford navigation. I set mine up and all it resulted in was constant warning about every upcoming overpass. Google and Apple do not take height or weight into consideration. Garmin and others make GPS units specifically for RVs and trucking. I wish they made mobile apps that used Carplay / Android Auto.

The RV Life navigation app on both iOS and Android work with Car play/ Android Auto - however, on my 2 trips using it this year, the app crashed multiple times at crucial points in the trip. I am not sure I want to pay for it next year again...
We have a stand-alone RV GPS with all of our dimensions and weight enter into it, we stopped using it due to it being super conservative and adding a lot of extra distance to routes just to avoid making sharp turns and such. We now just use Waze via CarPlay, Waze doesn’t have any RV parameters so it’s just navigation. I just look for low clearance signs prior to turns and sometimes choose to pass by a questionable looking road and let it give me the next turn option to check out when it comes up. It has worked for us for over 80K towing miles so far, but you do need to pay close attention when turning off “numbered” highways/routes and onto more rural roads.
Don't rely on Google maps for directions when towing, I use a stand alone Garmin RV gps and double check routing against actual maps. The Garmin GPS has been pretty good so far, I've had it about 7 years without an issue
I had to turn the Ford Trailer Navigation off. It drove me crazy.
It was constantly warning about narrow road ahead. ( it chime and the message flashed so fast, I was always asking what was that?)
It chimes for almost any bridge you go under. My trailer is 11' tall and I had that set up in the app. But it's warning me of 16' high bridge clearances
It chimes for weight limits on bridges. My 20,000 lbs rig gets warned when I go over a Interstate bridge that is supporting multiple 18 wheeler at probably 80,000 lbs each. But I get a warning.
I have it on my 25. It is set up and it guided me away from a hazmat restricted tunnel. Have not seen the height and weight restriction alerts.
I swear I remember seeing something about a Sync update to modify the constant bridge alert behavior that 2023 users were reporting. I have not tried it on my 2024 to say either way.
I used it in Sept when we drove from TX to KY
I used trailer inputs on trip back
Guess what..it routed me the exact same routes as going up
I wish it had foumd a way to get around Nashville
The Ford navigation works well with the RV until you don't follow its directions, then it will say it is unsafe and the navigation stops. I ended up going with a Garmin unit that takes account of my RVs size.

The one time I tried it it took me were I never should have been, same route Google choose. Never again.
I now subscribe to the Ford Nav and a Garmin as a backup
When I bought the new truck, I was hoping to reduce the dash clutter by using Ford nav instead of my Garmin RV GPS. We travel between Michigan and Florida. Our 1st stop from Michigan is in Georgetown KY. I need to go to the exit past the RV park and backtrack a little. The RV Park will warn you when you make the reservation. Garmin routes it correctly. When I enter the address into the truck it says I can't go there. Seriously......it can't figure out how to get me where I want to go? This was mainly a test because I know how to get to this stop. I wanted to verify that the Ford nav works. I can't trust this thing to safely get me to a location I'm not familiar with. I'm assuming the trailer nav is part of the paid service. I wasn't sure I wanted to pay an annual fee just to reduce dash clutter, but this service has issues.
